| | It’s been about a year since Apple’s App Store launched and now there are upwards of 60,00 applications and counting available for the ipod Touch and iPhone. The release right is running about 300 apps a day. With the overwhelming amout of Apple iPhone Touch apps it is pretty overwhelming for the basic iPhone user.
With the deluge of the best free iPhone apps games and also low priced apps, the majority of apps users are after iTunes listing and those having high front page listings. A high proportion of these are running at about $.99 per application. With the low price comes less quality apps from the developers with the big budgets with money to spend now.
The true potential of the iPhone will not be reached if all that is offered are goofy toys and gimmicks. Apple tries to recommend some of the best with its editor’s picks, but these gems get lost in the sheer magnitude of choices.
As time goes on and people try to buy an Apple iPhone Touch Cheap or try to buy an Apple iPhone without a contract, the development of the third party tools and services has a ready made market the mobile pocket PC.
Unfortunately about 90% of the apps that are currently available are of little use. There is a barrage of goofy gimmicks, clones, one act games. There are also volumes of reference materials and books that are of use for many educational apps. But for the common consumer, here are some of the best at this time:
- Kindle- these eBook readers are easy on the eyes and great for a quick review or reading a short chapter. Lots of free stuff here, but it’s not a replacement for Kindle.
- Skype-great quality for use over wifi for Skype to Skype apps. No more computer and microphone needed for those long distance phone calls.
- Slacker Radio-Leaving Pandora in the dust, Slacker has a premium account option that offers unlimited song skips-Larger database than Pandora
- Textfree Unlimited-at the moment the best option to the high costs of SMS plans. Using Push Notification, it offers free text messaging.
- TweetDeck- a friendly Twitter client with the desktop layout that is the same.
- Bento-keep you life organized with the creation of simple databases.
- Print and Share-a great simple setup that lets you print, webpages, contacts, files, emails, and pics from your camera right to your home printer.
- Flight Tracker-Get the latest flight arrival and departure times. An excellent time saver.
- Read It Later-an answer to having to bookmark all those pages. Keep any webpage to read offline or mark to read later.
