The latest and greatest version to come out of Amazon’s Kindle Tips and Tricks hat, improves on the original Kindle, with a larger screen among other newer features. But keep in mind that if you want to buy Kindle reader, be prepared to shell out the big bucks. The newest technology is not going to come cheap. This is a Kindle DX product review.
The bigger 10-inch screen on the Kindle DX cuts down on the squinting and makes for easier reading of PDF documents and files. Business reports and textbooks join the paperless generation and are a breeze to upload as formatting is not a problem.
PDFs especially are a great read with a Kindle reader. With a screen that can be used horizontally as well as vertically, graphs and side notes can easily presented. Surfing the web is not an option at this point as the purpose of this technology is to be an eBook reader and not a place to do a Google search or play or watch YouTube vids.
The Kindle DX does come at a higher price than you would expect. Coming in at a whopping $489, the eBook reader comes with a high price to pay in this economy. If you are looking to buy Kindle cheap, good luck. A secondary market of substance has yet to develop. However, this will come with time.
Yet even as the economy continues with lackluster numbers, California’s Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to have science and math textbooks in digital form for the state’s secondary schools by this year 2009-2010. He could be the key to creating a significant market outside of State government to buy Kindle reader.
Twenty free math and science e-books will available to secondary teachers for the coming school year. Each school in California will decide the format. Possibilities swing the entire gamut from actually printing the content out page by page or a CD version. Called open source, this one change could save the State millions of dollars in textbooks alone.
Price is, of course a big issue. If the price could actually be lowered to s more reasonable level, this latest bit of wifi technology could save the education system in California from bankruptcy. However, if you want to buy Kindle DX for personal use at this point in time, get ready to grin and bear it.
