| | Logitech handles an array of products that have met with mostly positive consumer opinion such as the Logitech S120 2.0 Multimedia Speakers reviews. There is one lowly product that’s not a speaker or a processor but just a lowly peripheral that brings raving reviews. The Logitech Marble Mouse.
This mouse was originally named the Logitech Marble Mouse Trackball. Beyond mere mortal mice, this peripheral just sits there in one place and lets your fingers roll the cheery burgundy ball to manipulate the pointer on your screen. It’s actually your thumb that does the clicking. No more having to pick up the mouse and move to a different position just to keep your pointer on the screen. This similar to the Logitech Notebook Mouse, but you can hook it up to any computer.
Way before the optical mouse became popular; Logitech had already started using optical technology with the Trackman Marble. If you remove the burgundy ball, you will see that there is a little window that is rectangular in shape. Behind the window is a sensor and an infrared LCD display. With these two technologies joined, they navigate the movement of the marble’s spots in tune with Logitech mouse drivers. It doesn’t’ t have the Gee Whiz effect of the laminating red glow of the standard optical mouse that is non-laser, but the Logitech gets the job done with no muss or fuss yet better precision. This mighty mouse is even built for ambidextrous use making it comfortable for left and right hand user and for those of us who can’t decide.
If you are thinking about how you would do scrolling without the wheel, it is dependent on the operating system you are using. With a Mac machine, the tiny buttons scroll up and down. On Windows, the mini buttons on the right allow for horizontal and vertical scrolling. You can kiss the wheel goodbye and not shed any tears.
With the long and sleek style and the ambidextrous design, the Logitech trackball mouse allows for maximum flexibility. From an ergonomic standpoint, its not perfect. Sometimes you may find yourself shifting your hand a bit to click a button but all in all a comfortable and interesting concept in the new mighty mouse world for the price.
